The chaos in European football does not seem to end in the short term. The Covid-19 pandemic put luxury-accustomed clubs in a difficult position and led them to an organization like the European Super League, where they would make more money.
This job has been condemned and is still debated by all elements of football, especially the fans.
UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin also has a lot to say on the subject. The president threatened four clubs that have not yet left the European Super League to ban them from the Champions League.
In the league, which was announced last Sunday, there were initially 12 clubs. Eight clubs then left the organization.
However, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus and AC Milan have not yet officially withdrawn from the league.
Speaking to The Associated Press, Ceferin said:
“It is clear that the clubs will have to decide whether they are a Super League or a European club.
"If they say they're in the Super League, of course they won't play the Champions League. If they're ready to do that, they can play in their own league.
“For me, the situation of the clubs that admit their mistakes and say 'We will leave the project' is different.
"Others know that I'm basically going to say this project is dead, but they probably don't want to believe it."
