Former Arsenal player Brazilian midfielder Willian: "I called my manager and said please take me out of here"

Stating that he was unhappy at Arsenal, the Brazilian football player emphasized that he did not feel well at all shortly after transferring.

Willian admitted that he wanted to leave the team just three months after signing because he was not happy at Arsenal.

Arsenal signed a three-year contract with Willian, who left Chelsea in the summer of 2020 and is in possession of his testimonial.

The Brazilian player could not reach the level of form he wanted in his first and only season at the Emirates Stadium and he made his way to the Brazilian team Corinthians.

Speaking to Rio Ferdinand's YouTube channel FIVE about why he left the team, Willian said:

"I wasn't happy, so my performance wasn't good. I don't want to go into details, but I wasn't feeling well.

“I was happy at first because I was transferred to Arsenal. I was highly motivated and wanted to achieve good things in a new club. I was looking forward to new friends and new projects.

"Three months after I transferred to North London, I told my manager, 'Please, get me out of here. I said, 'I want to go.

"I don't want to say anything bad about the club, because it's a great team. It has a great history in football, great players played there.

"However, I wasn't good there and that's why I wanted to leave the team."

The 33-year-old player gave up his two-year salary when he terminated his contract with Arsenal and left the team by making this sacrifice due to his passion for the game.

Speaking on this subject, Willian said, “Yes, I gave up a lot of money. Money is not the most important thing in life, it is more important to be happy and enjoy what you do. If you are doing a job, you should do it with love.

"I wasn't happy there, so I realized I shouldn't stay at Arsenal any longer. My family wasn't happy either. On top of that, I didn't stay where I didn't want to and left," he said.
