Gareth Bale, who has been injured since the national break at the beginning of September, turned out to have a significant hamstring tear.
Real Madrid has yet to comment on the seriousness of the problem that kept the 32-year-old off the pitch, but Wales Manager Robert Page did.
Bale will not be able to take part in the 2022 World Cup qualifying group matches in October. However, Page hopes the star player will return in November.
Answering a question about Bale's condition, Wales' coach told reporters:
“This type of injury is rated one to four, and hers is closer to four. So it's a pretty significant tear.
“We got in touch with him and our medical department to see how he's improving. Unfortunately, it's very difficult for him to join the next camp.
"He can make it to November camp. Fortunately, he's recovering better than expected.
"We're pretty confident it will be good for November."
