Guardiola's words to anger Manchester United: Club Brugge match is more important

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola made a remarkable statement before the Club Brugge match.

The Spanish coach thinks that the Champions League match against Club Brugge is more important than the derby at Old Trafford at the weekend.

City, which won the first match with the Belgian representative 5-1, can guarantee to be out of the group for the ninth time in a row if they win this match as well.

A very critical derby awaits City, which is five points behind leaders Chelsea in the Premier League.

However, speaking at the press conference before the Club Brugge match, Guardiola pushed the United match into the background.

“This match is more important than the United match. We have a great opportunity ahead of us to go to the next round.”

“There are too many games in the Premier League, here we only play six games and we only have three games left.”

“The third and fourth games are decisive and of great importance. We have to take this game seriously in order to perform well. Competition is increasing every year. We've already had a defeat in Paris."

City have been unable to lift the nets of West Ham and Crystal Palace in their last two games in the league. Despite this, Guardiola believes City are playing the best football of their time.

"If we take the football we play, we're having one of our best periods, maybe our best since I've been here."

“On the other hand, he continues to make mistakes. We have to improve ourselves, not individually, but as a team.”

“Sometimes we make a back four mistake, and other times we are slow to press or move on the court.”

Guardiola also conveyed his views on Sergio Agüero, who was hospitalized due to a heart ailment.

The Argentine star, who left the game in the 41st minute of the Barcelona-Alaves fight, will be away for three months and his response to the treatment will be observed during this time.

“It's sad for everyone, especially Sergio and his family. Everyone at Manchester City sends their best wishes. We wish him a speedy recovery. But it's not the time that matters. Health and life are more important than anything else.”
