Spanish representative Villarreal became champion in the UEFA Europa League. The match left for the penalties was breathtaking.

The winner in the UEFA Europa League was Villarreal, who took over Manchester United at the end of penalties.

The normal duration of the final played in Gdnask, Poland, ended 1-1. Villarreal led the first half of the match with Gerard Moreno's goal in the 29th minute.

Manchester United's goal came from Edinson Cavani in the 55th minute. The Uruguayan player became the third player aged 34 and over to score in the European Cup finals, after Gary McAllister (2001) and Didier Drogba (2012).

When the equality was not broken in extra time, penalty shootouts determined the winner.

When 10 players of both teams on the field did not make a mistake in the penalty shootout, the goalkeepers said the last word.

Villarreal goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli put the ball in the net, but Spanish goalkeeper David de Gea missed the penalty, sending the trophy to his country.

In the breathtaking final, 9,500 fans, corresponding to 25 percent of the stadium's capacity, took part in the stands.
