Liverpool announced that star player Naby Keita, who faced a military coup in his country, Guinea, where he went for the international match, is in good condition. While the country's borders were closed after the coup before Guinea's match with Morocco, it was a matter of curiosity how the 26-year-old player would return to England.
A Liverpool manager said in a statement that they are in constant contact with Keita and that they have also met with Guinea National Team officials. Underlining that Keita is in a safe situation, the Liverpool official said: "We are working to get Naby back here on time and safely. Frankly, we have to accept that this is a volatile situation."
Keita, who remained on the field for 180 minutes in two matches in the Premier League, which has three weeks left, won the Champions League championship and Premier League victories after his transfer to the English team. Keita, who is the most important athlete of his country, has played 41 matches so far with the jersey of the Guinea National Team, and shook the opponent's nets eight times.
The midfielder, who previously played for the French team Istres, the Austrian team Salzburg and the Bundesliga team Leipzig, transferred to Liverpool in the summer of 2018 for 60 million euros and played in 55 games under the management of German coach Jürgen Klopp and scored four goals for the English team.
