Real Madrid star Karim Benzema in trouble

Real Madrid's star player Karim Benzema was sent to court in France.

It was reported that Karim Benzema, who played in Real Madrid, one of the La Liga teams, was sent to the court in the ongoing case in France on charges of blackmail.

In the statement made by the Versailles Prosecutor's Office, it was stated that Karim Benzema and 4 people were referred to the Versailles Criminal Court in the case.

Benzema's lawyer, Sylvain Cormier, said in a statement that he was not surprised by this decision, which he described as "ridiculous" and condemned the brutal attitude towards his client.

The ongoing blackmail investigation against the French football player Benzema is being carried out as part of the "attempt to usurp the assets of Mathieu Valbuena", who plays in Greece's Olympiacos team. In the case, it is alleged that a secret video of his private life was sent to Valbuena, blackmailed and asked for 150,000 euros.

A lawsuit was filed against Karim Benzema and other defendants regarding the allegations on 5 November 2015, and the French National Team Coach Didier Deschamps closed the national team door to Benzema for this reason.
