England National Team Manager Gareth Southgate recently announced the England National Team squad for matches to be played with San Marino, Albania and Poland.
The British manager had a surprise by not recruiting Liverpool's star player Trent Alexander-Arnold. One of Liverpool's legends, Glasgow Rangers Manager Steven Gerrard said he was surprised by this decision.
Speaking to The Athletic, Gerrard stated that the country's best right-back player is Trent Alexander-Arnold.
"One thing is certain, I will always be with Trent. Gareth Southgate makes the decisions there. I strongly disagree with that decision, but I am not the UK manager. I think Trent is the best British right-back in the country.
The most important thing I've learned in my footballing life is that you can't always get 10 out of 10. I was surprised by this decision, but this is my opinion. My opinion is not important on this matter.
Trent is a world-class player. The best right back the country has ever had. By the way, we have other great right-waiters.
Southgate chose to recruit Kieran Trippier, Kyle Walker and Reece James ahead of the upcoming World Cup Qualification matches.
The 22-year-old star player has performed in 27 Premier League games with 1 goal and 3 assists this season with Liverpool form. In the Champions League, he made 2 assists in 6 matches.
