Although the European Super League, which left its mark on the last week in European football, seems to be shelved for now, its effects continue.
According to the news in the Daily Mail from the British press, UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin is preparing to impose various sanctions on 12 clubs that are trying to establish this league.
According to the report, Ceferin is planning to give soft penalties to these teams, as the British representatives of the European Super League are the first teams to change the minds of Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester United.
Serious sanctions await the teams that still stand behind this idea. UEFA, which plans to impose heavy penalties on these clubs after Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus' statements that the European Super League project could be revived, may ban these teams from the European cups next season.
Ceferin recently thanked English football and British fans for standing against the European Super League.
On the other hand, referring to the criticism of the new Champions League format, which will be implemented in the 2023-2024 season, by Jürgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola, Ceferin said that various improvements could be made on the format and that more matches were a result of the demands of the clubs who want to earn more income.
